DISTURBING: Trudeau Let Chinese Company Buy Canada’s Norsat Despite Connections To China’s Repressive Security Apparatus

Despite obvious concerns, Trudeau let the company buy Norsat – a sensitive Canadian high-tech firm related to national security – without a security review.

Now, it has been revealed that the company that Trudeau allowed to take Norsat, Hytera Communications from Shenzen, China – has been involved with China’s authoritarian security apparatus.
As reported by the Globe & Mail, “Hytera Communications – whose principal shareholder is billionaire chairman Chen Qingzhou – has had long-standing close ties to the ministry that oversees China’s police and security agencies. It has won numerous contracts to supply mobile and digital radio systems to Chinese police departments and local governments.”
This raises disturbing questions as to why Trudeau would let Hytera (and thus the Chinese government) get their hands on a company with so much sensitive information – including info that could have belonged to our closest military allies.

The Globe & Mail also noted the concerns of China expert Charles Burton:
“It is clear that Hytera is complicit in developing technologies for the use of police communications,” Mr. Burton said. “Canada has in past been unwilling to transfer technologies for Chinese police use due to the pervasive reports of Chinese police violations of human rights through gross invasion of privacy of communications in investigations and use of torture in interrogation.”
Burton raises an important concern, yet we’ve received no answers from the Trudeau government. Trudeau doesn’t want to explain why he is selling us out and helping strengthen the ruthless Chinese government.

It’s a disgrace, and more people need to know about it.

Now, it seems that Hytera is facing problems within the Chinese state itself, being accused of possible malfeasance in winning contract bids. Of course, this just means the Chinese communist government could take even more control over the company – as they can at any time. Accusations of corruption are often used by the government in China to gain direct control over any company they want. Once again, we see that transactions with China do not carry the same security or stability as transactions with countries where private property and the rule of law is respected.

NAFTA problems

As I recently discussed, Justin Trudeau’s dangerous subservience to China not only puts our national security at risk, but it could severely weaken our position in NAFTA renegotiations, which could cause serious damage to Canadian workers and the Canadian middle class.

And yet, Trudeau is willing to overlook every serious concern in order to do China’s bidding.
It’s a dangerous moment in our history, and it’s a key reason Trudeau must be defeated. He simply can’t be trusted to look after the interests of our nation.
