BAGHDAD
The United States Senator John McCain is
attempting to lead efforts to kick Iranian soldiers out of Iraq, which
has been fighting in the Islamic State militants.
“In his visit to Baghdad, Sen. McCain
asked Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Abadi to kick out Iranian soldiers
from Iraq and end their role in the fight against Islamic State (IS)
militants in the country,” a member of the Iraqi Sadr party told a
Kuwaiti newspaper.
“He has told Abadi not to allow Iranian
Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani to walk freely through Iraq
wherever as Iran has been sanctioned by the international community,”
said the source.
According to information revealed by the
Sadr party source, McCain has handed over details of almost 2500 crimes
committed in Iraq by Iranian soldiers. Most of the crimes were carried
out near Baghdad, in Samara, Balad, Dujel and to the south of Tikrit.
“McCain has also asked Abadi not to
allow Iranian military advisers to enter Iraq because their presence is a
threat to the US-led coalition military advisers in the country. One of
the main duties of Iranian military advisers is to collect intelligence
about the US and coalition activities in Iraq,” continued the Sadr
source.
The figure stated that McCain’s attempts
to kick out Iranian soldiers by pressuring Abadi is to prevent Iran
gaining information about the main political and military objectives of
the US in Iraq.
