Multiculturalism in its controversial glory: Is Canada a ‘country without a core culture’?
Salim Mansur is a political scientist at the University of Western Ontario. He has been described, including in the pages of this newspaper, as Canada’s “angriest moderate.” And what makes him so angry is that nobody, he says, not the media elite, politicians or even the academics, is willing to have a frank and open dialogue about multiculturalism in this country.

Subject: Multiculturalism

Salim Mansur is a shining example of the very best kind of immigrant.  He embraces Canada, her values and all that makes this country great.  Joe O'Connor on the other hand looks at Multiculturalism through rose coloured glasses. He sites one positive example of a family joined by their love of hockey.
Let’s look at some examples of the other extreme:  those who do not remove their niqab when saying their allegiance to Canada on becoming Canadian citizens or the Tamil Tigers intimidating their community collecting money to send back home or young Somalians who are sent overseas to train at terrorist camps to return for the purpose of Jihad or the honour killings or the imposition of Islamic prayers in schools or the incorrect labeling of Halal foods or the Khadr family conveniently using the Canadian medicare system when it suits them but hating our country at the same time, the determination to have Sharia courts in Canada and I could go on and on.
The immigrants of today are certainly not the immigrants of yesteryear.  They were the great “pioneers” of our beloved Canada who were proud and grateful to leave countries where they had no freedoms to come here – as Professor Mansur so rightly says “because there was a core identity with Canada and the United States and it was clearly a liberal democracy”.  What is our country now?  A mish-mash of values put through a blender and a mongrel species with no identity.
Darkness descending in England

This is a defining moment in British history, as significant as any major turning point.  It is in many respects like the Night of the Long Knives, which marked the point of no return from Nazism for Germany.  With these outrageous and politically motivated arrests, Britain has entered a dark and dangerous new era.

Israeli Flags Now Illegal in Dearbornistan

This is how hellholes like Malmo get started. When the law becomes a tool for enforcing Muslim prejudices, then equal rights go out the window and police lecture anyone attacked by Muslims on what they did to provoke the attack.

GAFFNEY: The real reason behind Benghazigate

What cries out for further investigation — and debate in the remaining days of this presidential election — is whether this shipment was part of a larger covert Obama effort to transfer weapons to our enemies that could make the Iran-Contra scandal, to say nothing of Operation Fast and Furious, pale by comparison.

The Islamic Schoolyard-Bully and Obama’s America

Supremacist ideologies—Communism, fascism, Nazism, radical Islam—succeed when they are appeased. Did you notice how, the more the Obama administration apologized for a YouTube video, the more rioting occurred in front of U.S. embassies across the world?
On the other hand, the policies and pronouncements of President Reagan led to the crumbling of the Iron Curtain. Calling the Soviet Union an “evil empire” brought rebukes from many government, media and academic elites—but history proved Reagan right.
Confronting evil, confronting the supremacist ideology, was the only way to defeat it.

How Much For A Piece Of The First Amendment?
The response to both marauding rioters and fatwa-driven heads of Islamic states must be a confident and unequivocal defense of First Amendment guarantees as enshrined in the Bill of Rights and confirmed by America's highest Court.

The War Against Free Speech Rages On

The real job of the President of the United States it to stand on principle and fight for the rights enshrined in the Constitution…. including the right to freedom of speech.  Google executives have it right.  They have asserted that the company “has very clear views on this issue.  We believe the answer to bad speech is more speech.”

Mocking Muhammad Is Not Hate Speech
When attacks on Muslims take place, they occur in response to terrorism by Muslims; that's no excuse, to be sure, but it does indicate that violence against Muslims has no connection with lampooning Muhammad or desecrating Korans. Muslims need to grow thick skins like everyone else; this is one of the by-products of globalization. The insulation of old is gone for good.
